The Philadelphia Eagles have added another star to their already fearsome defensive front.

After giving up 152 yards on the ground to the Washington Commanders in their first loss of the 2022 season, Philadelphia beefed up their defensive interior Thursday by signing free agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to a one-year deal.

Shortly after the announcement, Eagles' veteran Fletcher Cox sent a welcoming tweet to the five-time Pro Bowler.

"Welcome to Philly !!!!!" Fletcher Cox tweeted Thursday.

The Eagles and Fletcher Cox, a six-time Pro Bowl selection himself, hope that adding Suh can shore up some of the issues currently faced by Philadelphia on the interior of their defensive line.

Since losing 2022 first-round selection Jordan Davis to injury in Week 8, the Eagles have been gashed up the middle by opposing running backs.

Before Davis' injury, the Philadelphia run defense allowed just one opponent to rush for over 140 yards (Detroit Lions - 181 yards in Week 1). In Davis' absence, however, the Eagles have given up 144, 168, and 152 yards on the ground in three straight weeks.

Suh last suited up in 2021 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, tallying 6 sacks and 7 tackles for a loss. While not exactly the same pass-rushing threat as seen earlier in his career, Suh's run-stuffing ability helped Tampa Bay to allow the third-fewest rushing yards in the NFL last season.

As Philadelphia prepares for a Colts team that just ran for over 200 yards last Sunday, Suh's presence on the defensive interior will likely be needed sooner rather than later.

The Eagles will look to bounce back from their Week 10 loss Sunday against Indianapolis at 1:00pm EST.
