Look: Multiple NFL Combine Records Were Broken By 1 Quarterback On Saturday
Almost every year, the NFL Scouting Combine seems to catapult a player's draft stock.
This year, that player might just be former Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson.
Richardson, who measured in at 6'4" and 244 pounds earlier today, ran a blazing 4.4-second 40-yard dash on Saturday. But that's not all.
The ex-Gator also posted a 40.5" vertical and 10'9" broad jump, both of which broke NFL Combine records for a quarterback.
Not long ago, many scouts viewed Richardson as a fringe first-round pick and a long-term project. With his performance and measurements at the Combine this week, he may wind up creeping into the top half of the first round, or perhaps even higher.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport announced today that Richardson has met with several QB-needy teams this week, including some picking in the top 10 of the draft.
Richardson has often compared his game to that of former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton. Asked earlier in the week if he believes he's a better passer than Newton coming out of college, the former Florida quarterback said, "I believe so."
Expect the hype around Anthony Richardson to only grow in the weeks leading up to April's NFL Draft.
