This Thursday night, the Los Angeles Chargers face a pivotal AFC West test against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately, Justin Herbert won't have his full passing attack available.
Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen is "unlikely" to play this Thursday night. Allen exited the team's season opener vs. the Raiders with a hamstring injury. Los Angeles was still able to come away with the 24-19 victory.
The good news, meanwhile, is that Allen's hamstring injury isn't believed to be serious. He should be able to return for the team's third game of the regular season on Sept. 25 vs. the Jaguars.
"#Chargers WR Keenan Allen is unlikely to play Thursday night against the #Chiefs, but there is optimism after tests that his hamstring injury isn’t anything long-term, per sources. Next game is Sept. 25 against the #Jaguars, two full weeks after the injury," said Tom Pelissero.
Even without Keenan Allen for the full game, Justin Herbert still put on a show with 279 yards passing and three touchdowns in Week 1. If he can have similar stats vs. the Chiefs, the Chargers should be able to go toe-to-toe with the AFC West's best.
