The New England Patriots have reportedly made an official starting quarterback decision.
Mac Jones, who began the season as the starter, has been sidelined with an injury recently.
That's opened the door for rookie quarterback Bailey Zappe to get playing time; he's made the most of it.
However, it sounds like the Patriots are sticking with Jones, the former Alabama star, once he returns from injury.
"There is no QB controversy in New England. When Mac Jones is healthy enough to return to play, he’ll be the starter, per sources," said Jeff Howe.
This shouldn't be that big of a surprise. Bill Belichick clearly likes Mac Jones and has confidence in the second-year quarterback out of Alabama.
With that being said, it's hard not to love what Bailey Zappe brings to the table. He's a confidence gun-slinger and already has a strong understanding of the New England offense.
If Jones struggles upon his return the Patriots will no doubt have a quarterback controversy on their hands. Until then, it's Jones' job to lose.
