The Miami Dolphins snapped a three-game losing streak with a 16-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
Unfortunately, they lost a key piece of their defense in the process.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel announced Wednesday that safety Brandon Jones will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.
"Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel confirms safety Brandon Jones torn his ACL, out for season. Significant blow for young versatile playmaker who was having a strong season." -- Cameron Wolfe
Jones, a third-year player out of Texas, had started each of the first seven games for the Dolphins this season. He led the team with 49 tackles, including a pair of sacks.
The injury to Jones is the latest in a series of misfortune for the Dolphins secondary. The team placed cornerback Nik Needham on injured reserve last week due to an Achilles injury, while fellow corner Byron Jones has not played this season due to an ankle injury.
As a result, the Dolphins worked out former Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler on Tuesday.
