Mike McCarthy Announces Official Monday Update On Dak Prescott

Mike McCarthy, Dallas Cowboys

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy shared the latest on quarterback Dak Prescott this Monday afternoon.

Prescott will meet with a doctor this Tuesday to determine the progress he's made since undergoing thumb surgery.

The check-in with the doctor will likely determine Prescott's availability at practice. However, even if the veteran quarterback is cleared it doesn't sound like he will play this Sunday.

McCarthy notes he likes his players to get a full week of practice before returning to game action.

"Mike McCarthy said Dak Prescott has a doctor’s appointment on Tuesday for a checkup on his right thumb. The coach said he would like Prescott to have a full week of practice before he would return to game action," said Todd Archer.

So from the sound of it, Dak Prescott won't play this Sunday vs. the Rams of Los Angeles. That will be the case even if he's cleared to go by doctors on Tuesday.

Cooper Rush, in the meantime, will likely keep running the show while Prescott is away.

The Cowboys beat the Commanders 25-10 on Sunday. Rush had 223 yards passing with two touchdowns.
