Mike McCarthy Reacts To Cowboys' Big Trade On Tuesday

Mike McCarthy, Dallas Cowboys

On Tuesday, the Cowboys acquired defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins and a 2024 seventh-round pick from the Raiders in exchange for Dallas' 2023 sixth-round pick.

When asked today about how Hankins' arrival will impact current Cowboys' defensive tackle Neville Gallimore, head coach Mike McCarthy didn't appear concerned, saying, "you cannot have enough big men in your building."

"Mike McCarthy when asked about how the addition of DT Johnathan Hankins impacts DT Neville Gallimore, who was inactive (coach’s decision) last week: 'Well, we can’t have enough of the Neville Gallimores, Hankins, all these guys. You cannot have enough big men in your building'," The Athletic's Jon Marchota wrote Wednesday.

Hankins, at 6'3" and 340 pounds, only rivals Quinton Bohanna (6'4", 360 lbs) on the Cowboys' roster in terms of size up front.

With the Chicago Bears paying a visit to Dallas this Sunday, the Cowboys appear to be fortifying the interior of their defensive line. Chicago racked up over 240 rushing yards in their Monday Night Football win over New England in Week 7.

Dallas is looking to keep pace with the rest of the NFC East this Sunday with a win versus Chicago.
