Mike McDaniel Announces Friday Update On Dolphins' Quarterback Situation

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel gave an update on the team's quarterback situation Friday.

According to McDaniel, both starter Tua Tagovailoa and backup Teddy Bridgewater are still in the concussion protocol as of this morning.

"Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said Tua Tagovailoa and Teddy Bridgewater are still in the concussion protocol as of today," Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reported Friday. "If Teddy is cleared by tomorrow, he will backup Skylar Thompson. If he’s not cleared, Reid Sinnett will be elevated from practice squad to back up Thompson."

While it seems Bridgewater may have a chance to see the field Sunday, McDaniel announced Wednesday that Tagovailoa will not play or be active come game time against Minnesota, despite practicing this week.

If Bridgewater is able to clear concussion protocol by tomorrow, he will serve as backup to rookie starter Skylar Thompson. If not, former University of San Diego quarterback Reid Sinnett will be elevated from the practice squad to handle backup duties for Miami.

The 3-2 Dolphins are looking to bounce back from an ugly 40-17 loss against the Jets in Week 6 as they host the 4-1 Minnesota Vikings this Sunday.
