Mike Tomlin has surprising Pittsburgh Steelers injury news to share this Tuesday morning. It concerns star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Tomlin announced this morning that Fitzpatrick has entered concussion protocol. His status for Week 4 is now in question.

Fitzpatrick was assessed for a concussion following the Steelers' loss to the Browns last Thursday. He checked the boxes and is now in the protocol.

The Steelers play the New York Jets this Sunday.

"#Steelers S Minkah Fitzpatrick is in the concussion protocol, according to Mike Tomlin. Says Fitzpatrick got assessed after the game against the #Browns," said Mike Garafolo.

If Minkah Fitzpatrick can't play on Sunday, the Steelers defense will simply be a shell of itself. It's already without premier edge rusher T.J. Watt.

The good news is Fitzpatrick has a few days to rest before any big decision needs to be made. If he's able to go by Friday he should be fine to play on Sunday.

With that being said, it's the Jets. The Steelers can probably get away with not playing Fitzpatrick and still get a win.
