The NFL has done a good job of spreading around the prime-time schedule with an astounding 12 teams getting the league max of five such games during the 2022 season. But when it comes to the biggest game of the year, a smaller handful of teams will be taking the field in that spotlight.
The defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams, Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and AFC contenders Buffalo and Kansas City are set to appear in a number of the biggest games this season.
Here is a look at 10 of the biggest games on the 2022 NFL regular-season schedule to look forward to this fall.
Los Angeles Rams vs. Buffalo Bills (Week 1, Season Kickoff on TNF)
As has become tradition, the defending Super Bowl champions get the center stage for the NFL opener, and this could end up being a preview of next year's battle for the Lombardi Trophy. The Rams host the Bills in one of the best season-opening matchups the NFL has cooked up yet.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Rams (Week 12)
Later in the year, the Rams could be tangled in another Super Bowl preview as they host Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in Week 12. The last time these two teams played ignited the scoreboard on fire. Here's hoping the scoreboard operator at SoFi Stadium is well-rested.
Buffalo Bills vs. Tennessee Titans (Week 2)
The Bills certainly jump right into the fire this season. After opening the season on the road against the Rams, Buffalo returns home to host the Titans in a monster AFC matchup.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Los Angeles Rams (Week 9)
The Rams and Bucs get back together as Tom Brady looks to come away with a better result than his last outing against Aaron Donald and company in the NFC Championship Game.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Week 4)
The Bucs and Chiefs meet for the first time since their Super Bowl clash two years ago. They could run it back again later this season, say in February out in Glendale, Arizona?
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Buffalo Bills (Week 17, MNF)
Late in the season, playoff positioning could be in full effect as the Bills visit the reigning AFC champion Bengals. Can Joe Burrow and company score a big win in the "Monday Night Football" spotlight?
Buffalo Bills vs. Green Bay Packers (Week 8)
The Bills and Packers would make for a great cold-weather game, but we'll settle for a Week 8 clash between Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tennessee Titans (Week 9, SNF)
A Sunday night showdown between two legitimate AFC contenders is going down in Week 9 as the Chiefs look to solve the Titans after being locked down by Tennessee in their regular-season meeting last fall.
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Week 13)
A rematch of the AFC Championship Game highlights Week 13, and once again the Bengals could be looking to make a statement. Cincinnati won both meetings with the Chiefs last season, a regular-season victory at home and a come-from-behind, overtime victory in Arrowhead Stadium.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Denver Broncos (Week 1, MNF)
The stakes may not be terribly high in this matchup for either team, but Seahawks legend Russell Wilson returning to his former home stadium for his Broncos debut is worthy of the opening week MNF spotlight.
