New England Patriots Linked to Signing of AFC East Rival WR

With the most cap space in the NFL, the New England Patriots are in the best position around the league to get better.

With Drake Maye also proving that he's a worthy NFL quarterback, the ownership and front office have to feel confident about what they could build in New England during this offseason.

However, it's also important that the Patriots understand that making a move just to make a move might not be the best decision.

Having money is a good thing, but it can often go poorly if they hand out a contract that doesn't go as planned.

There are a few free agents that could happen with, and the Patriots were recently linked to one of them.

Scott Engel of NJ.com named them a suitor for Buffalo Bills wide receiver Amari Cooper, who was a shell of himself during his short stint with the Bills last season.

"New England, Pittsburgh and Tennessee are other spots to consider if Cooper does leave Buffalo," Engel wrote.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Amari Cooper (18) turns up field after making a catch in the second quarter against the New England Patriots.

If the Patriots could sign Cooper for a decent price, he'd be a great player to pursue. However, it's uncertain if what he was in 2023 and during some of his Dallas Cowboys days is what he is now.

He had just 20 receptions for 297 yards with the Bills, and dealt with a few injuries.

Already 30 years old, that's a worrying sign.

Unless it's for a price the Patriots can't pass up on, he might be someone they should let sign elsewhere.
