The New York Giants were expecting big things out of rookie linebacker Darrian Beavers this upcoming season. Unfortunately, he's going to have to watch it from the sideline. Beavers, the rookie out of Cincinnati, has suffered a season-ending injury.
Beavers tore his ACL during the Giants' preseason game on Sunday night. He will miss the entire 2022 season.
Unfortunately, the Giants were "very high" on the rookie. He was clearly going to contribute for the team this upcoming season, but not anymore.
"#Giants promising LB Darrian Beavers tore his ACL during last night’s preseason game and will miss the entire 2022 NFL season. They were very high on him. Rough," said Ari Meirov.
The Giants took Beavers with their final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He played the first two years of his college career at UConn and the final three at Cincinnati. All-in-all, Beavers finished with 230 tackles and three interceptions during his college career.
Beavers wasn't the only rookie to suffer an injury on Sunday night. So did first-round pick Kayvon Thibodeaux. He'll miss the next three to four weeks with an MCL sprain.
