New York Jets Announce Official Decision On Mekhi Becton

Early on in training camp, former first-round pick and Jets right tackle Mekhi Becton left practice with a considerable limp. One day later, the Jets learned Becton suffered a significant injury.

This Tuesday afternoon, the AFC East franchise officially announced it has placed Mekhi Becton on the injured reserve. He'll be out for the entire 2022 season. The hope is he'll be ready to go by 2023.

Becton, the No. 11 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Louisville, will undergo surgery at some point this week. A disappointing setback for the former top prospect.

"Prior to having knee surgery from Dr. Neal ElAttrach, #Jets OT Mekhi Becton was placed on Injured Reserve, ending his 2022. He’ll have surgery within the week (corrected, as the surgery date was moved)," said Ian Rapoport.

Maybe one day Mekhi Becton will get things figured out. The priority is getting healthy.

The Jets, meanwhile, signed Duane Brown to be his replacement. Considering his experience, the New York offensive line shouldn't skip a beat.
