Aaron Rodgers Admits What Went Wrong for Jets After NFL Playoffs Elimination
Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets were officially eliminated from the NFL playoffs on Sunday afternoon after falling to the Miami Dolphins 32-26 in overtime. The Jets have now missed out on the postseason for the 14th consecutive season.
New York came into 2024 with high hopes as Rodgers made his highly-anticipated return from an Achilles injury that kept him out all but a few snaps during 2023, but the season hasn't gone as planned, falling to 3-10.
The Jets even made some major changes in hopes of turning their season around, including dismissing coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas. They also acquired Rodger's former Green Bay Packers teammate, wide receiver Davante Adams, from the Las Vegas Raiders.
But the New York Jets still couldn't figure things out and have now dropped nine of its last ten games, which ultimately led to the elimination.
Following the loss to Miami, Rodgers spoke to the media for a postgame press conference, where he admitted what went wrong for the Jets this season.
"Yeah, the expectations were high, and we didn't reach them," Rodgers said. "Not anywhere close. We felt good three weeks in... And since then, it's been a lot of difficult games with opportunities to win. We just didn't figure out how to win enough games, I didn't play good enough in some crunch times. That's why we're sitting here with the record we've got."
After starting the season 2-1, the Jets lost their next five contests. In Week 9, it appeared they had begun to figure things out with a big win over the Houston Texans. But the Jets went on another losing streak, moving that number to four with Sunday's loss.
The Jets will have four games remaining in 2024, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, Buffalo Bills and the Dolphins again.
