Aaron Rodgers Reacts as Jets QB Boldly Blames Ownership For Failures

It's clear New York's starting quarterback thinks ownership had more to do with the team's failings this year than anyone else.

When Aaron Rodgers first made his intentions clear back in 2023 that he wanted to play for the New York Jets, he cited his relationship with the team's head coach, general manager, and ownership as a reason why.

Less than two years later, that same coach and executive are out. And it seems that Rodgers' relationship with the final main leader in the locker room now has deteriorated.

When asked about his comments on the Pat McAfee show Tuesday in regards to whether or not the team's ownership group has been overly supportive of coaches and GMs like other teams in the league have.

To say his answer was eye-opening would be an understatement as he with some subtlety is boldly blaming ownership for the failures.

"Is that a rhetorical question? I cited an example I've seen," Rodgers said. "There were other examples in Green Bay, both for and maybe not as for whoever was in charge. But I think it's an important part of ownership to hire the right guys, set the vision, and support them when the outside world is trying to tear them down."

How easy it is for relationships to seemingly crumble. While Rodgers did state that his relationship with Chris Johnson was strong, the four-time MVP conveniently left out owner Woody Johnson - the main decision-maker in New York now - in those comments.

And with previous reports stating New York wanted to see how good Rodgers would look during the remaining five games of the regular season, it doesn't seem like the quarterback is too pleased with that idea, either.

"That is ridiculous, with all due respect," Rodgers stated. "If they want me to stay, fantastic. If it takes these five games, maybe they don't know what I bring to the table. That being said, I'd love to play really friggin' well the last five games."

While Rodgers' has some fair points to make regarding New York's ownership group, it's not like he has been part of the solution with the Jets currently.

And with changes coming to the team in 2025, it seems he will be part of that group to leave in the coming months.
