Cursed? Why Aaron Rodgers Comments Make Sense To Jets Fans
A team has to have a bad combination of rotten luck, poor play, and mind-numbing mistakes to miss the NFL playoffs for 14 straight years.
That's exactly what the New York Jets are dealing with currently.
For 14 years, New York has missed the playoffs with just one of those years having an above .500 record. It's left some players who have only been around for the last few years to question if something more sinister is going on.
From curses to everything else.
"Might be some sort of curse we got to snap as well, but whatever the case, this team, this organization is going to figure out how to get over the hump at some point," Aaron Rodgers said. "The culture is built by the players. There's a framework set down by the organization, by the upper ups, by the staff, but in the end it's the players that make it come to life and at some point everybody's going to have to figure out what that special sauce is to turn those games that should be wins into wins."
It's easy to laugh at curses for franchises like the Jets because of their consistent struggles to make correct decisions. Whether it's missed picks on quarterbacks, or coaching hires that go horribly wrong, there's a pretty easy reason to say why Gang Green has struggled as much as they have.
There's also a light at the end of the tunnel, though.
New York does have a collection of young talent to build around. They do have plenty of cap space coming into the new offseason, and they have their full collection of draft picks.
It might take a few more months, but the Jets' curse could be lifted by simply hiring the right people to take advantage of all that.
