Breakout Star Reveals Heartfelt Promise Gives About Jets Locker Room

New York Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood had positive things to say about the team's locker room despite their failure to make the playoffs.

The New York Jets will likely be playing for better draft position on Sunday when they face the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Heading into the game, both teams have already been eliminated from the playoffs, so a lot of the focus will likely be on the Jets' younger players who will look to prove themselves.

One of the young who has already done plenty to prove himself is breakout linebacker Jamien Sherwood.

Although many negative reports have come out about the Jets internally, especially relating to quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Sherwood told media on Monday that he's as close with his teammates as ever.

“I feel like I’ve been here and the core guys have been here, so for me, that’s why I’m definitely going to play my heart out these last four games because we’ve built these bonds that will last a lifetime,” said Sherwood. “I’ll do anything for my brother, just like I would my real ones. We prepare so hard and all we want to do is win at the end of the day. So that's how we're able to just rally and just be amongst each other through all this adversity.”

In his fourth season, the fifth-round pick his been one of the Jets' biggest standouts on defense. He currently leads the team with 125 combined tackles, which is 36 more than the next-closest defender. He has also recorded a career-high two sacks this season.

With Sherwood nearing the end of a contract year, he is certainly one young player the Jets' new general manager will want to retain.
