Week 8 of the NFL season features some good matchups in division play, including the Bills attempting to establish full control of the AFC East and an NFC West showdown in Seattle between the Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. Elsewhere, the defending Super Bowl champs look poised for another lopsided victory against one of the teams most likely to be thinking about a top draft pick next spring.
It was another tough outing for the NFL picks last week as we fell to .500 on the season. But this is a new week, and thus we have a new feeling of optimism.
Note: All times are ET and all games are on Sunday, Nov. 1.
Here are this week's best NFL picks against the spread:
Green Bay (-6.5) vs. Minnesota, 1 p.m.
The Packers bounced back in a big way after being blown out by Tampa Bay two weeks ago, rebounding with a convincing 35-20 victory at Houston. The winning should continue this week against the struggling Vikings. Green Bay's wins have come by no fewer than seven points. Take the Packers to pick up another win with a cushion. Packers 38, Vikings 26
Kansas City (-19) vs. New York Jets, 1 p.m.
It is not too often you see a point spread this wide in the National Football League, but it would be shocking to see the hapless Jets manage to keep this one within a few scores against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Don't sweat this one. The Chiefs are about to roll. Chiefs 43, Jets 20
Buffalo (-3.5) vs. New England, 1 p.m.
The Bills have hit a bit of a lull lately with back-to-back losses to Tennessee and Kansas City followed by an 18-10 win against the lowly Jets. This week sees Josh Allen and the Bills a slight favorite against Cam Newton and the Patriots, who are coming off a brutal loss to the 49ers. Don't expect the Pats to bounce back enough this week, and count on the Bills cementing their place atop the division with a 4-0 record against AFC East opponents this season. Bills 27, Patriots 23
Los Angeles Rams (-3.5) at Miami, 1 p.m.
The Rams continue to rack up the mileage this season with yet another trip to the east coast. Fortunately, those trips east have gone well with wins against the Eagles and Washington. The Rams should pick up a third with a game at Miami this weekend. Tua Tagovailoa gives the Dolphins some life, but Aaron Donald and the Rams defense will make things difficult for the rookie. Rams 30, Dolphins 17
Seattle (-3) vs. San Francisco, 4:25 p.m.
The 49ers have had an up-and-down season already, but when they are healthy, they are dangerous. But this week they take on Russell Wilson and the Seahawks in Seattle, and that is never an easy situation to step into. The Seahawks will be looking for a rebound too after dropping a wild game in Arizona last Sunday night. Plus, it's tough betting against Wilson in a big spot. Seahawks in a shootout. Seahawks 39, 49ers 35
Last week: 2-3
