NFL officials are under the microscope yet again for over-protecting a quarterback.
During the Monday Night Football matchup between the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers, Chargers defensive end Morgan Fox was flagged for roughing the passer after a seemingly clean hit on the Broncos' Russell Wilson.
Both ESPN color commentator Troy Aikman and officiating analyst John Parry took issue with the flag.
Fox was presumably flagged for a low hit on Wilson, but Parry pointed out that the contact originated around Wilson's waist.
Another questionable flag was thrown later in the game on Broncos outside linebacker Bradley Chubb for a hit on Justin Herbert.
Roughing the passer has been a hot topic in recent weeks. Two controversial flags, one of which prompted Aikman to speak out on Monday Night Football, drew outrage from around the league in Week Five. The NFL, however, announced that it does not plan to change its rules surrounding roughing the passer.
