NFL Scouting Combine Watch: Josiah Deguara

With the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine officially underway, it's time to take a look at some intriguing prospects to keep an eye on in Indianapolis.

Today, we take a look at Cincinnati tight end Josiah Deguara.

Having an impact tight end as a receiving threat is a necessity these days. When you look around the NFL landscape, the top tight ends in the league play for the top teams in the league. We even watched arguably the best two players at the position face off in the Super Bowl earlier this month.

Any team looking for a steal and some draft value at the position should pay attention to what Josiah Deguara does at the Combine.

Deguara is a bit undersized (6-3, 245) for the position, and it seems as though that's what will cause his draft stock to remain low. At the Combine, look for his workouts to make up for an inch and a couple of pounds.

Scouts will see him runs routes and look as graceful as a receiver doing so — displaying his soft hands in the process. He'll also likely put up one of the better 40 times of any tight end in Indy.

His production speaks for itself: He hauled in 72 balls for 972 yards and 12 touchdowns over the last two seasons.

Deguara has a versatility that will allow teams to use him as a lead blocker or dangerous receiving threat at fullback as well. He's a guy who doesn't really need to come off the field when you are switching up packages. 

As long as he runs well at the combine, there are going to be teams looking to steal Josiah Deguara anywhere between the fourth and sixth rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft.
