The NFL returned in a big way last week and if the opening games are any indication, there's no telling what will happen in Week 2. While several teams looked as good as advertised, a couple of teams that entered the season with postseason aspirations saw their campaigns get off to rough starts. Athlon Sports' own NFL experts were not immune to these ups and downs when it came to their Week 1 picks either.
But the beauty of the NFL season is that every team still has 15 games remaining, so a loss in Week 1 doesn't mean there's no hope of getting into the playoffs. So what does Week 2 have on tap?
The action gets going with an AFC North matchup between Cincinnati and Cleveland on "Thursday Night Football." Both teams lost their openers last Sunday, but No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow played pretty well for the Bengals in his NFL debut. The Browns were dominated by the Ravens, so Baker Mayfield and company would no doubt like to make a statement at home in primetime.
Other teams that are expected to at least contend for a playoff spot that stumbled in Week 1 playing in the 1 p.m. window on Sunday include San Francisco (at New York Jets), Dallas (hosting Atlanta), Tampa Bay (vs. Carolina), Philadelphia (vs. Los Angeles Rams), as well as Minnesota and Indianapolis, who are facing each other.
Later on Sunday afternoon, the Chiefs and Chargers will clash for the first time in SoFi Stadium, while Baltimore will look to keep things rolling against a Houston team that had to face Kansas City in its opener last Thursday night.
Then it's a Super Bowl XLIX rematch on "Sunday Night Football" when New England pays a visit to Seattle, although much has changed since these teams played for the Lombardi Trophy back on Feb. 1, 2015. Week 2 wraps up with the Raiders' first-ever game in Las Vegas along with the debut of Allegiant Stadium when the Saints make the trip to Sin City for "Monday Night Football."
