NFL World Reacts To Stunning Matt Ryan News

Matt Ryan, Indianapolis Colts

During the off-season, the Colts were overjoyed to send Carson Wentz away and acquire Matt Ryan from the Falcons.

However, the grass isn't always greener; especially in the NFL.

The Colts are benching veteran quarterback Matt Ryan. Sam Ehlinger will make the start for Indianapolis this Sunday vs. the Commanders.

A stunning development and one nobody saw coming. Ryan is now a backup.

"The #Colts waited out the QB market this spring, got two third-round picks for Carson Wentz and sent one to the #Falcons for Matt Ryan, whom they hoped could stop their QB carousel. Instead, Sam Ehlinger – a sixth-round pick last year out of Texas – gets his big audition now," said Tom Pelissero.

"It is telling that Frank Reich *knows* his job is on the line and he believes Sam Ehlinger has a better chance to save it than Matt Ryan," said Gregg Rosenthal.

"Frank Reich benched Matt Ryan his hand picked replacement for Carson Wentz. What is going on in Indy?" said Robert Griffin III.

"i know matt ryan hasn't been good this year, but this is a damning indictment. yikes," said Bomani Jones.

"The #Colts went from a 39-year-old Philip Rivers, to Carson Wentz, to a washed Matt Ryan over the last three seasons. At some point, they need to draft a QB in the first round. Can't expect to move forward with those personnel decisions," said Evan Lazar.

Rarely do you see a player with Matt Ryan's legacy get benched mid-season.

A stunning development in the NFL world, to say the least.
