NFL World Reacts To Stunning Todd Gurley News

Todd Gurley

Todd Gurley's playing days in the NFL have come to an end.

Gurley spent the week tweeting "thank you" notes to some of his favorite NFL idols and peers. It led some to believe an official retirement announcement would follow, but it never did.

Then on Wednesday, during an interview with Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network, Gurley confirmed the rumors. He's taken his last handoff in the NFL.

"I don't think there's any question about that one," Gurley said when asked by Siciliano if he's done playing professional football.

A stunning announcement by one of the more talented backs we've seen in the NFL over the past decade.

Fans are shocked:

"One of my favorite @RamsNFL players of all time, sad to see it end the way it did," one fan wrote.

"Rams miss you Todd, you were amazing!" another fan said.

"Thankyou Todd Gurley for the memories on & off the field, appreciate you & all the best on the next chapter of life," a fan commented.

"Losing him still stings big time. A dominant runner, with great hands. Smart as they come. Special time; glad I got to witness it. Thank you #30 @TG3II," one Twitter user said.

Gurley finishes his NFL career with 8,336 yards and 79 total touchdowns. He spent the majority of his professional playing days with the Rams as well as one year with the Falcons of Atlanta.

Congratulations on a great career, Todd.
