Peyton Manning Breaks Silence On Colts Naming Jeff Saturday Interim Coach

Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning has finally broken his silence on the Colts' stunning decision to name Jeff Saturday their interim head coach.

One would imagine the Colts might consult Manning before naming an interim head coach. But that's now what Jim Irsay and Co. had in mind.

Manning revealed during the Manningcast on Monday night that he knew nothing about the Colts' decision.

To make matters worse, he found out about the news like the rest of us; via ESPN's Adam Schefter.

“I was surprised," said Manning. "I didn’t know anything about it. I learned it from @AdamSchefter. I think Adam Schefter knows you’re getting cut before you know you’re getting cut. He’s the one who told me the Colts had let me go.”

The Colts not reaching out to Peyton Manning is pretty strange. It's especially odd that Indianapolis didn't contact Manning to inform him it hired Jeff Saturday as interim.

With that being said, Manning is more aligned with the Denver Broncos now. So it's likely Indianapolis held off on contacting the franchise legend.

Hopefully Manning becomes a bigger voice within the Colts' building down the road. The AFC South franchise certainly needs someone like him in the front office.
