Are Nakobe Dean's Days Numbered With Eagles?

Vic Fangio's comments Monday show that Dean's time with Philadelphia may be running out.

Under Vic Fangio, the Philadelphia Eagles hoped that Nakobe Dean would be able to access the kind of talent that made him a high-profile draft selection, and a steal in the third round of the 2022 draft.

With three defensive coordinators now through and Dean still has yet to constantly crack the starting lineup, the reality may be hitting home.

Nakobe Dean will head to IR for the second time this season

Perhaps Dean just isn't the kind of top-linebacker many expected him to be.

With Jeremiah Trotter Jr. taking first-team reps at times on Tuesday's practice, it's clearer now that Dean may not be the kind of everyday starting linebacker that the Eagles were expecting when they dipped into the Georgia Bulldog pool at the time.

The next question becomes even greater:

Are Dean's days numbered in Philadelphia?

The Eagles don't appear ready to flat-out release Dean at this point - especially with the group so thin when it comes to depth in the first place.

Still, the longer Dean is unable to standout as a top linebacker at all, the more likely it is that the Eagles could look to address the position even further in free agency.

Last season, he was replaced by Nick Morrow and Zach Cunningham. Now it's Devin White and Zack Baun.

Perhaps it's not the Eagles failing Dean, but the other way around.
