Saquon Barkley Makes NFL History After Massive Eagles Decision
The Philadelphia Eagles are less than a month removed from a 40-22 Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
It was a massive season for the Eagles, and star running back Saquon Barkley was a huge reason for that.
In his first year with the Eagles, Barkley rushed for 2,005 yards with 13 touchdowns in the regular season. In the playoffs, Barkley had another 499 rushing yards with five scores, including 57 yards and another six receptions for 40 yards in the Super Bowl win.
Now, just days before free agency kicks off, the Eagles have rewarded Barkley with a historic contract extension, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

"Eagles are rewarding Saquon Barkley with a two-year, $41.2 million contract extension that makes him the highest-paid running back in NFL history, per sources," Schefter wrote on X.
"The deal makes Barkley the NFL’s first $20 million+ per-year running back. Barkley also has the ability to earn an additional $15 million in incentives and escalators. The deal includes $36 million fully guaranteed at signing," Schefter added.
Last offseason, the Eagles signed Barkley to a three-year deal worth $37.75 million. After just one year, they reward him with a massive pay raise.
The Eagles will have a happy Barkley in the fold as they attempt to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
