Steelers No Longer Interested in Trade for Niners Brandon Aiyuk, Insider Reveals

One NFL insider believes that the Pittsburgh Steelers are no longer interested in San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

There have been multiple stories and rumors all offseason about the potential link between the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Word has been that the Steelers were wanting another receiver to pair with budding superstar George Pickens.

There were originally reports that the Steelers and 49ers had a deal in place during the draft that fell through at the last minute. However, one NFL insider now believes that the Steelers are no longer interested at this point. In a recent appearance on "The Insiders," Mike Garofalo explained why.

“My understanding is they at least investigated the possibility of trading for Brandon Aiyuk around draft time or before the draft,” Garofalo said. “And the 49ers, as they did with all teams, shut it down. So, it was never really a thing, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

“I don’t sense that they would be in it for him anytime soon, even if the 49ers did open it up.”

Aiyuk’s very public contract stunts probably didn’t do him any good, either. The Steelers just aren’t the type of franchise to deal with the kind of circus that Aiyuk puts on.

We are less than two months before the start of the regular season, and right now, the Steelers are going with the receivers they have. Unless something changes, Pittsburgh is standing pat.
