The Eagles, ranked second in the NFC, have endured mounting tension within their roster following a narrow win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 13. Wide receiver A.J. Brown sparked controversy when he stated that the team’s passing game needed improvement, indirectly suggesting quarterback Jalen Hurts should elevate his performance. Indirectly pointed to quarterback Jalen Hurts, who hasn’t surpassed 200 passing yards in his last three outings.
The situation intensified when Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham addressed the issue in a recent interview.
“The person that's complaining needs to be accountable,” Graham said, referring to Brown. “I don't know the whole story, but I know that [Hurts] is trying and [Brown] could be a little better with how he responds to things. They were friends before this, but things have changed, and I understand that because life happens. But it's the business side, that we have to make sure the personal doesn't get in the way of the business.” Graham later apologized for his comments, but the strain between Hurts and Brown remains a storyline.
The Eagles’ struggles have mirrored last season’s collapse when a 10-1 start unraveled into a 1-5 finish and a Wild Card berth. The Steelers, by contrast, have defied preseason expectations by climbing to the top of the AFC North standings under head coach Mike Tomlin's leadership.
