Just when you think you are starting to figure things out in the NFL... Week 6 happens. Eight of the 14 games saw the visiting team win, including Pittsburgh handing Kansas City its first loss of the season, meaning there are no more undefeated teams in the league.
In addition, the New York Giants and Los Angeles Chargers both picked up their first wins of the season, leaving Cleveland and San Francisco as the only winless teams remaining.
There also were more injuries, the biggest being the broken collarbone suffered by Aaron Rodgers against Minnesota. Brett Hundley will take over at quarterback for Green Bay, who is at home against New Orleans on Sunday, but it’s pretty clear that the NFC North race (not to mention the conference pecking order) looks a lot different now.
As for Week 7, the slate kicks off with a key AFC West battle as Alex Smith and the Chiefs will look to rebound on the road against an Oakland team that got Derek Carr back last week but still couldn’t avoid a fourth straight loss, this one to the Chargers courtesy of a last-second field goal.
Los Angeles will host Denver, who is reeling after getting dominated at home by the previously winless Giants. Other interesting divisional matchups on tap have the Cardinals and Rams playing in London, as well as Bengals-Steelers, Jets-Dolphins and Redskins vs. Eagles to finish things off on Monday night.
But the game everyone has had circled on their calendar for some time is the Super Bowl LI rematch between Atlanta and New England that will take place Sunday night in Foxborough. The Falcons come into this one with a two-game losing streak after coming up short against two other AFC East teams (Bills, Dolphins), while the Patriots have been far from dominant through their first six games. Still, no one needs to remind either team what happened the last time they got together.
