Raiders Are Reportedly Making A Surprising Running Back Cut

The Las Vegas Raiders are making pretty surprising roster cut this Monday afternoon. The AFC West franchise is releasing veteran running back Kenyan Drake, according to multiple reports.

The Raiders' decision reportedly has more to do with the team's younger running backs than it does with Kenyan Drake. Still, it's a bit of a surprise by the team.

"Confirming @Raiders are releasing RB Kenyan Drake. Ameer Abdullah, young RB's having great camps," said Vincent Bonsignore.

The prior Raiders coaching staff fully invested in Kenyan Drake and clearly had big plans for him. However, the new staff is heading in a different direction.

"Kenyan Drake got $5.5 million in the spring from the #Raiders and is owed $2.5 million guaranteed this season (minus what his next team pays him). But that was money the previous regime negotiated. New regime decided to move on," said Mike Garafolo.

It's only a matter of time before Kenyan Drake finds a new home. He's rushed for 3,384 yards and has 1,535 receiving yards in six NFL seasons. He's still capable of being a high-impact player in the National Football League.

The Raiders, meanwhile, are moving ahead with Josh Jacobs, Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah at the running back position.
