Teams have to trim their rosters down by Tuesday's deadline. The Los Angeles Rams, as a result, are waiving a veteran quarterback. That quarterback is 27-year-old Luis Perez.
Perez is one of several players the Rams are waiving this Tuesday to get down to 85 players on the roster. Los Angeles still has three quarterbacks on the roster, including Matthew Stafford, John Wolford and Bryce Perkins.
Perez should be able to find a spot either back on the Rams' practice squad or at another NFL camp.
"LA Rams Transactions: • Waived, No Recall P Cameron Dicker, T Adrian Ealy, QB Luis Perez, TE Jamal Pettigrew, DB Caesar Dancy-Williams," the team announced.
Luis Perez has carved out a pretty solid football career over the past several years. His journey continues.
"The journey of Luis Perez continues... Bryce Perkins played the entire game and John Wolford is proven commodity, so hard to crack #Rams. But seeing/speaking with him @HUBFootball2020 + watching him develop from @TheAAF to @XFL2023 & @USFL, he has earned another #NFL look IMO," wrote Ric Serritella.
Perez should be able to find a new home in the near future, whether it be in the NFL or another football league. At just 27 years old, he still provides some value.
The Rams, meanwhile, get back to work in the preseason this Friday against the Houston Texans.
