Rams Coach Has Honest Admission On Matthew Stafford's Monday Night Performance

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI

Most would agree Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford didn't look great against the 49ers on Monday night. Well, except for head coach Sean McVay.

Stafford had just 254 yards passing with no touchdowns and one pick in the Rams' 24-9 loss to San Francisco earlier this week. To make matters worse, the pick resulted in a touchdown.

However, McVay thinks Stafford did some things really well. In fact, he believes the veteran quarterback "played excellent" in Week 4.

Okay then.

“If you look at some of the different things that he was dealing with, I thought he played excellent,” McVay said, via Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times. “I thought he did a lot of good things. I think the margin for error was that much smaller. . . . I thought that was a performance that he could build on.”

Sean McVay would never come out and bash his starting quarterback. But that's some high praise for a quarterback who simply didn't play well on Monday night.

The Rams have an uphill battle in the NFC West, especially with the 49ers around.

They will try and bounce back this weekend vs. the Cowboys.
