Report: Anonymous NFL GM Calls Deshaun Watson Suspension A 'Complete Joke'

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson.

On Monday, Deshaun Watson learned that he's being suspended for the first six games of the 2022 NFL season. Per a report, League executives are furious with the decision.

An anonymous NFL GM told NFL insider Kimberley Martin that a six-game suspension for Deshaun Watson is a "complete joke." The individual isn't alone in that train of thought.

A number of additional executives feel the punishment is "far too light," feeling he deserved a lengthier suspension.

"Been talking to league execs + coaches (in b/t TV hits) about Deshaun Watson … and the vast majority I’ve spoken to feel the suspension was far too light," Martin tweeted. "An NFL GM told me it’s a 'complete joke,' adding: 'He gets the same amount as someone who took a PED. Makes no sense.'"

It's worth pointing out Deshaun Watson received six games after 25 women filed civil lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct during massage therapy.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins got the same suspension for PED violations. Falcons wideout Calvin Ridley got an entire season ban for sports betting.

The bottom line is the rest of the League feels Watson should be suspended for a longer duration.

The NFL has three days to decide whether or not it'll appeal the six-game punishment.
