Tom Brady was away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for about 10 days. Leaving your team behind during the preseason is rare, especially from a franchise quarterback. But it turns out it was for a pretty good reason.
According to Pro Football Network, Tom Brady went on a family vacation to the Bahamas and stayed at an exclusive resort during his leave of absence. The trip was primarily for family time with his wife, Gisele Bundchen.
"League sources indicated that Brady's time away from the team included a trip to the Bahamas at an exclusive resort and primarily for family time with his wife, Gisele Bundchen. His commitment to family and having a personal life was at the heart of this hiatus from football, and there was no medical emergency, as speculated, or other reasons."
It sounds like Tom Brady simply needed some time away from football to go on a family vacation. Most players wouldn't get something like that excused from training camp, but Brady's the exception.
The preseason simply isn't very important for Brady at this point. He's 45 years old and there's nothing left to prove. As long as he's healthy this upcoming season he should be right back at the top of his game.
Brady and the Buccaneers begin the 2022 season on Sept. 11 against the Dallas Cowboys.
