Saints Are Signing Veteran Quarterback This Tuesday

In the lead-up to their Thursday Night Football matchup with Arizona, the New Orleans Saints made several changes to their practice squad Tuesday.

A report by Nick Underhill this afternoon confirmed the Saints have signed quarterback Jake Luton, as well as defensive end Jabari Zuniga, to their practice squad while releasing defensive tackle Christian Ringo.

"Saints signed QB Jake Luton and DE Jabari Zuniga to the practice squad and released Christian Ringo," Underhill tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

The news shouldn't be shocking to Saints fans, as both starter Jameis Winston and backup Andy Dalton are recovering from injuries this week.

With the game being on Thursday night, the move may just be a precaution in case Dalton or Winston is unavailable on such short rest.

If the Saints' top two options at quarterback aren't cleared to play, Luton will likely need to beat out the multi-positional Taysom Hill for the starting job Thursday. Hill has experience taking snaps at quarterback for the Saints in addition to his tight end role on the team.

The Saints are on the road in Week 7 as they'll attempt to improve to 3-4 on the year with a win over Arizona.
