Saints Reportedly Cut Veteran Receiver Ahead Of Monday Night Football

Saints wide receiver Kevin White

The Saints of New Orleans are cutting ties with a veteran wide receiver ahead of Monday Night Football

The Saints have reportedly cut ties with veteran wide receiver and former first-round draft pick Kevin White.

Kirk Merritt, as a result, is getting the call up to the active roster for tonight's NFC South battle between the Saints and Bucs.

White heads to waivers, but it's likely he ends up back on the Saints' practice squad.

"The #Saints waived WR Kevin White prior to tonight's game. WR Kirk Merritt gets the call-up from the practice squad," said Ari Meirov.

White has just two catches for 74 yards this season playing in New Orleans. One of those catches went for 64 yards.

It was previously believed White could make a considerable impact on a New Orleans offense lacking play-makers at wide receiver. But it appears he hasn't done enough to earn significant playing time.

The Saints battle the Bucs tonight on ESPN.
