San Francisco 49ers Offensive Lineman Will Be 'Out A While' With Injury

The San Francisco 49ers are getting light on depth at the offensive tackle position.

Niners offensive tackle Colton McKivitz suffered a sprained MCL during the team's win over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.

McKivitz is now going to be "out a while," per head coach Kyle Shanahan.

The left tackle was replacing Trent Williams, the usual starter at left tackle, with Williams away with an injury as well.

"49ers’ OT Colton McKivitz, who was replacing the injured All-Pro OT Trent Williams (high ankle sprain), suffered an MCL sprain Monday night they will sideline him multiple weeks. “He's going to be out a while,” said 49ers’ HC Kyle Shanahan," said ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Niners might have to do some more shuffling along the offensive line.

The good news is both Williams and McKivitz are expected to return at some point this season. Shanahan may play it safe, though, rather than risk rushing Williams back sooner than he needs to.

The 49ers take on the Panthers of Carolina on Sunday.
