The San Francisco 49ers have a critical matchup Sunday waiting for them. The visiting Miami Dolphins could derail the team's plans of winning the NFC West if Kyle Shanahan's squad isn't at full strength.
Fortunately, it doesn't appear that will be the case for Christian McCaffrey. The star running back acquired ahead of this season's trade deadline indicated today that he will suit up for Week 13.
McCaffrey had missed practice Wednesday due to a knee injury he suffered in Week 12. But San Francisco fans and fantasy football players alike needn't worry, as McCaffrey stressed that his knee issues are a thing of the past.
Speaking with Matt Barrows of The Athletic, McCaffrey said he dodged a bullet with his injury as his knee feels great.
In addition, McCaffrey not only gave himself the go-ahead for Sunday, but confirmed to David Lombardi of the Athletic that he went "full speed" in practice today.
While a knee injury can have perilous effects on a running back, football fans shouldn't be surprised at the grit shown by McCaffrey. Appearing in each game of the 2022 season, the former Pro Bowler has made an indelible impact on the Niners' rushing and passing game.
Speaking to the humility and character that he's retained amid his success, Shanahan said of McCaffrey in November "He acts like he's a practice squad guy just trying to earn a job."
