The Seattle Seahawks reportedly "plan" to make a surprising roster cut by Tuesday's deadline. That player is Seahawks defensive back Ugo Amadi.
Amadi has been a productive defensive back in the Seattle defense over the past three seasons. The former Oregon star has 125 total tackles and one pick since entering the League in 2019.
The Seahawks reportedly "plan" on cutting Amadi ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
"The Seahawks plan to cut DB Ugo Amadi as part of their first wave of roster reductions, a source tells me. Amadi has been a rotational player at nickel and has been competing with Marquise Blair and Justin Coleman for that job. Teams have to trim their rosters to 85 by tomorrow," said Brady Henderson.
Ugo Amadi was recently working with the Seahawks' No. 3 defense. He's clearly been passed up by other options.
"Amadi was with the No. 3 defense Saturday. They've also been looking at Coby Bryant as a nickel option. So lots of good depth there, which was likely a factor. I suspect financials also played a role. Amadi was set to make around $2.5M this season thanks to a PPE raise," Henderson added.
Amadi should have no issue finding a new home ahead of the 2022 season. The 49ers may end up giving him a look considering Jimmie Ward is currently dealing with a significant hamstring injury.
NFL teams, meanwhile, have until Tuesday to trim their rosters down to 85 players.
