Charbonnet Explodes For 2 Touchdowns as Seahawks Down Cardinals in 30-18 Victory
Seattle Seahawks became the first road team to score a rushing touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals since September, using a pair of touchdowns by running back Zach Charbonnet to lift the team to a 30-18 victory on Sunday in Glendale.
The 6-foot-1, 214-pound second round pick out of Michigan State in the 2023 NFL Draft started in place of Kenneth Walker III and made the most of it, rushing for a career-high 134 yards on 22 carries along with his two rushing touchdowns.
Seattle forced consecutive interceptions in the first quarter on Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray -- the first by linebacker Ernest Jones IV and the second by cornerback Coby Bryant -- which resulted in a pair of touchdowns for the Seahawks to jump out to a 17-7 lead after 15 minutes.
The Seahawks (8-5, 3-2 NFC West) capitalized in their lead when Charbonnet broke off a 51-yard touchdown run with 2:36 remaining in the first half to extend the lead to 24-10 after the Cardinals added a 28-yard field goal by Chad Ryland earlier in the second quarter.
Not to be outdone, Arizona held Seattle to just six points in the second half through a pair of Jason Myers field goals, the first from 36-yards in the third quarter and the second from 35-yards out in the fourth quarter, to seal the 30-18 road win.
The Seahawks kept quarterback Geno Smith upright and without a sack for the first time all season, which allowed the veteran to complete 24-of-30 attempts for 233 yards passing and 1 touchdown, a 19-yard strike to Jaxon Smith-Njigba to give Seattle a narrow 10-7 lead with 3:25 remaining in the first quarter.
Seattle returns to Lumen Field next Sunday to host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.
