Bucs Coach Liam Coen Reveals No. 1 Mindset Amid Jaguars Interest

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen has revealed his mindset as the playoffs are about to begin with looming head coaching interviews to come.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are gearing up for a playoff assault, and the Washington Commanders will roll into Raymond James Stadium for the Wild Card round.

At this time of year, it is all about the playoffs, but it is also the time when teams not in the postseason begin interviewing candidates for their vacant head coaching roles.

Offensive coordinator Liam Coen, after his superb work with Baker Mayfield this season has attracted interest, particularly from the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have requested to interview him.

But as the playoff game against the Commanders is just around the corner, is Liam's head being turned by a potential head coaching job?

“That's not really part of the mindset right now,” Coen said. “That's something that if that comes up, that'll be next week after this stuff's done. So, number one mindset is going to win this game.”

Potentially having a head coaching job next season is a big deal, and for Coen, who has never been one before in the NFL, that can be a big carrot dangling in front of him.

But there is still work to be done with the Buccaneers, and each playoff win will only enhance his chances of getting a head coaching job down the line.

The focus is all on the Commanders, and his potential head coaching job and how he fares in the playoffs are tied together.

Which makes it all the more important to have a narrow focus and be locked in on Washington. Which is exactly what Coen is doing.
