Taysom Hill Has Honest Reaction To Full-Time Position Change

Waiver Wire Week 12: Taysom Hill

Taysom Hill.

Under the Sean Payton regime, Taysom Hill was a swiss-army knife. He took snaps at quarterback, running back, tight end and gunner. However, with Dennis Allen now at the helm, Hill's versatility is being fully applied to one position: tight end.

That's right. Hill will no longer take snaps at quarterback for the Saints. That'll be Jameis Winston's role and his role alone. Hill, meanwhile, is hoping to be productive at the tight end position catching passes from the former No. 1 overall pick.

Although Hill is looking forward to helping the team in any capacity he can, the former BYU star made it clear this week that the full-time position change was not his decision.

"Things aren't up to me," Hill said Tuesday, via the team website's Michael Hull. "I'm willing to do what I need to do to help us win football games. ... I love playing, and so it creates opportunities for me to add value and be on the field and compete.

It certainly doesn't sound like Taysom Hill is bitter about the switch. After all, he still figures to be a prominent weapon in the Saints offense.

He added, "That's the nature of the NFL. This isn't necessarily what I want, it's what's best for the team and I'm good with that."

With his full attention on one position, Taysom Hill could provide significant big-play value in New Orleans later this fall.

The Saints begin the 2022 season on Sept. 11 against the Marcus Mariota-led Atlanta Falcons.
