Tennessee Titans Fans Shouldn't Be Concerned With Cedric Gray Yet
Rookie Linebacker Cedric Gray's first few months in the NFL have definitely not gone exactly how he would have hoped and his recent placement on Injured Reserve has caused many fans to start blaring alarms. While the Tennessee Titans rookie hasn't given fans and coaches many things to be excited about, panic should not be allowed to set in yet.
The 2024 3rd-round pick out of North Carolina has been a consistent no-show in offseason practices and the additions of veteran Ernest Jones IV and captain Kenneth Murray Jr. have certainly made his outlook interesting.
The main reason that worry shouldn't plague the minds of Titans fans when thinking about Gray is just how early he is into his NFL career. The emerging Chance Campbell (fellow IR member), Jones IV, and Murray Jr. have bunched up a formerly thin LB group but the coaching staff haven't wavered in their support for the young Gray.
The coaching staff and front office led by General Manager Ran Carthon have raved about their expectations and confidence in Gray's abilities and there's a reason that they selected him so early in the draft. His leading presence in the middle of the field profiles him perfectly to be the team's defensive "quarterback" for a while.
Adding on, an important positive that many scouts recognized in Gray's game out of college was his very complete play style and high floor. When he returns from injury, there's a high likelihood that he'll be a very similar player to the one the team drafted a few months ago and should be a solid producer in future seasons.
