It's a rough start to the 2022 season for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. They are 1-2 through three games. To make matters worse, Mac Jones suffered and injury on Sunday.
Jones, the former Alabama star, reportedly suffered a high-ankle sprain vs. the Ravens in Week 3. It's unlikely he will be good to go this coming Sunday when the Pats take on the Packers at Lambeau.
"Patriots’ QB Mac Jones is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain during today’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens, per source. He will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the diagnosis and determine the severity of the injury," said ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Patriots now have two options. The first is move forward with backup Brian Hoyer until Mac Jones returns. The second is re-sign a free-agent quarterback familiar with the franchise.
The quarterback just so happens to be former NFL MVP Cam Newton.
"If the New England Patriots wanna save their season, they’ll call Cam Newton," a fan said on Twitter.
"Depending how long Mac Jones is out............ I really wouldn't mind a Cam Newton reunion. You're oblivious if you think our 2 backups are better," a fan tweeted.
Should the Pats bring Cam Newton back to New England? It may be worth a shot.
The Patriots take on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers at Lambeau this Sunday.
