Since Tom Brady decided to un-retire and return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season, rumors have swirled that his marriage with Gisele Bundchen is on the rocks.
Brady came as close as he ever has to opening up about his personal life on his podcast, "Let's Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray."
Brady acknowledged Monday that he's been dealing with stress away from the football field, saying "there's things I'm going through in my 40s, and it's life."
“You wake up every day trying to do the best you can do, understanding that life has its stresses,” Brady said. “And to deal with them with a great support system and understanding and having some introspectiveness in your life where you can look at yourself and say, ‘Where do I need to commit my time and energy to? And how can I lessen some of the stress and lessen the burden on me so that I can be good for people around me?' So those are all different things that I work at."
Brady, 45, announced in January that he planned to retire from the NFL. However, 40 days later, he reversed course and returned to the Buccaneers for his 23rd professional season.
Reports have since emerged that Brady and Bundchen, who have been married since 2009, have been living apart, and that both have hired divorce lawyers.
Neither Brady nor Bundchen has commented publicly about their relationship. The couple has two children: Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9. Brady also co-parents son Jack, 15, with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.
