Turns out, at least in one way, Tom Brady is just like the rest of us.
Brady, currently playing his 23rd NFL season, has become legend for his fitness level. But the 45-year-old revealed recently that even he has been struggling with something that impacts most Americans.
In an "Armchair Quarterback" video posted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady was asked whether or not looking at a cell phone screen before bed can impact sleep.
Brady, talking with fellow Bucs quarterback Blaine Gabbert, said he couldn't offer any advice because he has the same problem.
The issue, Brady revealed, stems from having too much going on during the day and trying to get it all accomplished before bed.
“I have no advice, because I have the same problem," Brady said. "I’m too damn busy. I got too much s--- going on. We’re trying to get everything done during the day but just don’t get it done during the day, so you know what, we all gotta deal with that. Now I wouldn’t tell my children that. I would say put the iPads away and all that. But sometimes as a parent, do as I say, not as I do.”
It doesn't come as a shock that the seven-time Super Bowl champion has had a lot on his plate lately.
Brady's Buccaneers team has struggled, starting the season 4-5. He also recently announced that he and Gisele Bundchen, his wife of 13 years, have filed for divorce.
Perhaps the lack of sleep has been one of the reasons for Brady's struggles on the field. While he leads the NFL in pass attempts so far this year, Brady has thrown just 10 touchdowns, tied for 16th.
He's on pace to throw 19 touchdowns on the season, which would be his fewest in any full season since 2001, his first as a starter.
