Trey Lance Was Reportedly 'Annoyed' By The 49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo Decision

Trey Lance, San Francisco 49ers

All offseason Trey Lance was told he's the new face and leader of the San Francisco 49ers. However, the team's intention of trading or cutting Jimmy Garoppolo never materialized. In fact, the veteran agreed to a reconstructed contract with the NFC West franchise that'll keep him in the Bay Area for another year.

In the immediate aftermath of Garoppolo and the 49ers' decision, Lance was reportedly a "little annoyed" by the outcome. After all, Garoppolo has a ton of supporters in that locker room.

"#49ers QB Trey Lance ;was a little annoyed in the immediate aftermath' of Jimmy Garoppolo restructuring his contract to remain with the team, per @SINow," said Dov Kleiman, via Sports Illustrated.

Hopefully this doesn't make its way into the 2022 season. The 49ers can't afford for their team chemistry to take a significant hit.

Trey Lance will still be the starting quarterback in the Bay Area. However, the moment he slips up Kyle Shanahan may turn back to Garoppolo.

The 49ers begin the 2022 season on Sept. 11 against the Chicago Bears.
