Commanders Receive Disrespectful 'Thank You' Note From Cowboys CeeDee Lamb
In the wake of a historic loss to the Dallas Cowboys at Northwest Stadium, the Washington Commanders were forced to deal not only with a defeat but also disrespect.
It was the biggest upset in the NFL this season, as Dallas was a 10.5-point underdog. And also the first game in league history to feature two kickoff returns to touchdown, two missed extra points and a blocked punt.
The last eight minutes were a heck of a football game in itself, featuring 41 points, a 99-yard kickoff return, an 86-yard touchdown pass, a two-point conversion, a missed extra point, an onside kick returned for a touchdown and Jayden Daniels' Hail Mary being intercepted to finally end it.
In a game Washington seemed destined to lose on multiple occasions, it was poised to tie and perhaps force overtime with :21 second. But after Terry McLaurin's miracle 86-yard catch-and-run touchdown got the Commanders within 27-26, the Fair Tale fizzled.
After a low snap, kicker Austin Seibert hooked the extra point wide left. It was the second missed PAT of the game for Seibert, who hadn't missed one all season but was coming off a two-game absence with a hip injury.
Of all the game's numerous heroes, after the game Cowboys' receiver CeeDee Lamb decided to give credit the man who missed the most crucial kick.
"Shoutout to Austin. He went to OU with me," Lamb said of his former Oklahoma Sooners teammate. "He gave us one."
Said a dejected Seibert after the game, "Just want to play better for my teammates. It's on me."
After an impressive 5-2 start the Commanders have come back to Earth. They escaped the Chicago Bears on Daniels' Hail Mary, beat the 2-win New York Giants by five points and then have lost three in a row.
