Washington Commanders Depth Chart

Antonio Gibson, Washington Football Team

How the Commanders could line up for the 2022 season.

The Washington Commanders era has begun in the nation's capital, and besides breaking in a new name and logo, head coach Ron Rivera is also hoping for better luck in the health department. The offense will have a new commander as well, with Carson Wentz returning to the NFC East after one season in Indianapolis. Wentz has plenty of detractors, but he inherits a unit that has some playmakers in wide receiver Terry McLaurin and running back Antonio Gibson and could become even more potent should Curtis Samuel and Logan Thomas rediscover their pre-injury forms and if first-round pick Jahan Dotson get up to speed quickly. There are just as many questions on defense after that side of the ball took several steps backward in 2021. Again, health will be key, especially for Chase Young, the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020 who saw his production fall off a cliff last season before tearing his ACL in Week 10. A middle-of-the-road NFC East makes the path to a potential playoff berth easier, but not the task that lies ahead for the new-look Commanders.
