Jayden Daniels vs. Caleb Williams? Commanders QB Will Be Better - Soon, Predicts Analyst
The Washington Commanders are certainly in rebuild mode, but they wouldn’t mind the kind of comeback year the Houston Texas had last year with C.J. Stroud.
On Friday, Anthony “Booger” McFarland was on ESPN’s Get Up and revealed a strong opinion for the upcoming season. ... that suggests such a possibility.
“Don’t be surprised if midway through the season, we’re having a conversation that is very similar to what he had last year,” McFarland said. “Meaning, the No. 2 pick, Jayden Daniels, looks better than the No. 1 pick, Caleb Williams.”
We are sure that would be just fine with the long-suffering Commanders fans. too. They’ve been waiting for a comeback since 1992, and with new owner Josh Harris and his team rebuilding the franchise the right way, better days are surely ahead.
“Just like last year with C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young,” McFarland continued. “There are a lot of people out of Washington telling me this young man Jayden Daniels, not only does he look the part, but his teammates know he looks the part.
"Caleb Williams will struggle (in Chicago) and I think Jayden Daniels will come out of the gate flying.”
The talent around Daniels is solid with Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson on the outside. Rookie Luke McCaffrey looks like he can be a receiving threat as well. The backfield combination of Brian Robinson Jr and Austin Ekeler is the kind of thunder and lightning duo that can take the pressure off of Daniels.
Then there is Daniels himself. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner account for 50 touchdowns with LSU last season. His legs are a threat if he has to get out of the pocket.
With Coordinator Kliff Kingsbury air raid offense, this Commanders team could be formidable out of the gate.
We can’t wait to see how they put it all together when training camp opens next week.
Training camp starts July 25 at the Commanders Center in Ashburn, VA.
